Installing an extension

Learn how to install modules plug-ins and components for your Joomla! site.
Here is a list of Joomla! Extensions for you to use to improve your website!

For this demonstration we are going to install the ChronoForms component from the ChronoEngine website.

When choosing and downloading extensions, please ensure they are compatible with the version of Joomla! you're currently using.

First of all, download the component, module or plug-in that you wish to install and save it to a location you can find.

Once you've done this, click Extensions > Extension Manager
extension-browse

Click the Choose File button of the Upload Package File section and choose the file you just downloaded.
Now click the Upload & Install button to install your chosen extension.

You should then be presented with a similar message to this:
extension-installed

This method is used to install Components and Plug-ins aswell as Modules.
